A Trip To Montana’s Glacier National Park

Based on a true story by Tim Nunamaker (Age 9), Copyright 1996
"Are we there yet?," Joe asked his family on their way to Glacier National Park. "Five more miles" his father answered. "I wish we never had to go on this dumb trip Frank" Joe’s older brother said. Soon they arrived at their rental cottage. It had three bedrooms and it was surrounded by trees. After they were settled, they went into town for lunch. There was a store in the restaurant. "Can we please have slingshots" Joe said. "Not today" said his mother. "Maybe tomorrow" The next day, they went to the world’s biggest maze. It’s a maze made of wood that people follow clues to get to four towers. Then they rode in bumper boats. They got very tired. That night Joe and Frank got their slingshots. The next day they went horseback riding. Joe fell asleep and fell off the horse and rolled down the hill. When he woke up, he was OK. When they were home, Joe and Frank wanted to try out their sling shots. OH NO!! Joe shot a rock at the window and crack, the glass was broken. JOE! Yelled his father. O h oh, the window cost twenty dollars. The next day they went white water rafting. Boy was it an adventure! Frank’s hat almost fell in the water! The next morning they were home. Frank had learned a lesson: never judge a trip before you get there.

Once in my house on my birthday my mother got me a teddy bear and I really liked him. He was a small koala bear with a small black nose. My brother gave me an adventure castle. It was built with a big forest around it. But when I went to bed I saw a magical thing happened. My little koala came alive. When he said something the first time I could not understand what he said but the second time he said it I could understand. So when he talk he said we most go through the big forest so then I started to shrink. After that we climbed up to the forest. Then I asked my koala why do we have to go through the big forest? He answered to find the magical pearl. Then I asked him where the magical pearl was he said in the dead swamp where the evil swamp worm lived and the only way to beat the swamp worm is to not be scared. So we went walking in the big forest to find the magical pearl but then a pack of monkeys with huge tails came attacking us so we took a strike and wiped them away then we got caught by the kings men and got locked in the dungeon,. Then the king came down to talk to us and we told him that we needed to beat the evil swamp worm for the magical pearl to make me to my normal size again. So the king gave us some leather armor so that we could beat the swamp worm. Then he let us out and said good bye! Then we had to go to the swamp. Then we arrived at the evil swamp worms lair so when we saw him we got the chills but we were not scared so we hammered away on him then I took one more big strike at him and we was beated and we found the magical pearl and I went back home with my koala so when we were back at home and I was my own size again
